It's the thought that counts?
Greetings all. I've been wanting to shave with straight razors for a while, recently my mother found out about this and thought it'd be nice to gift me with my first razors. So now I'm sitting here with three Selective brand made in Pakistan razors. When I first held the razors none of them felt right, after looking them up I realized why.
I'm trying to find a good razor for a not so expensive price, I've been looking on the classifieds but even those prices are steep for me. Is there any decent razors out there for a decent price or should I just hold off until the money situation gets better?

That's a shame about the Selective razors...but I know the heart was in the right place. What kind of price are you willing to spend? If you look in the classifieds section here you'll see plenty of razors for sale. I'm sure the ones in the $50-$80 range will be great shavers, or if you want to spend more I'm sure you can get a really fancy one too.
If I were you I would spend around $60 max on my first razor, and I'm sure you can find a good one for that price. Maybe you can get a nice Wapienica razor from ruprazor, he's also a member here I believe...He also has Double Arrow razors there too. From what I know they are NOS (New Old Stock), so brand new, and will be an excellent razor for a beginner.
You can always spend a little more getting a brand new razor, a Dovo for example. But I think you could easily save money and just get a nice quality used one, that will shave equally as well, for a quarter of the price.
Just my 2 cents, hope that helps a bit!

I just bought one and have seen others in the forum buy from Kenrup [with strop and shipping] and lynn having razors in the$60-$80 range. give'em a try. Lots of good things said about them, not to say there arn't many others here
Edit. by the way I got burned also with the pakies before coming to this site.Consider where you will spend ETERNITY !!!!!!
