Thanked: 0noob
The stats show I have 2 posts but I think this is my second post - first was in the giveaway of the month. Hope I win.
Just wanted to become a non-lurker, though I probably won't post much. So, HOWDY!
I got my dads straight razor about a moth ago. I'm no spring chicken and learning to shave all over again is tricky. After shaving once with my new razor, I was pretty sure that something wasn't right. I did a bunch of web browsing and determined I needed to know more about this new adventure. I bought a shave ready Clements from Lynn on this site to see if there was any difference in feel. I was amazed. While I'm still a bit nervous using something so sharp close to my juggular, it was much easier shaving with a sharp razor. I bought another razor from a different site and it was just as easy. I've cut myself a few time, but I'm getting better. I don't think I'll have any scars.
I don't want to screw up my dad's razor - it was probably his dads - so I thought I should get some practice. I bought a couple of practice razors from Old_School. I managed to screw one of them up and insult Old_School at the same time letting him know what I thought of the razor that I screwed up. Apologies offered. I've since done more reading and more practicing and hope I'll be ready soon to sharpen Dad's razor. Light is right - I'm learning that a light touch and slow pace is best to get a good shave. Light handedness is hard for a heavy handed bassists to learn (shameless plug: Salt Creek Band on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads).
I look forward to the evenings so I can practice shaving some more - is that weird?
Keep up the good work. This site has been a big help.
