Thanked: 0Training
I wonder if anyine can advise or help me. I have always wanted to learn to use a straight edge (cut throat) razor, so now i want to get off my bum and finally learn. Can anyone tell me of any training courses they know of in the south of england????
You thoughts also would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks

Thanked: 9Not really any training courses I've ever heard of. I learned by watching a lot of videos, talking to my barber and buying a shavette. You will cut yourself a bunch starting out, but stick with it. I think it comes a lot easier to people than they think, at least it has for my friends and I. Read the wiki, watch the videos and post your questions.

I'm not aware of any courses. I think you'll end up learning as you go. This site is the best resource you'll find & any questions will get answered. Like the others already said, the video's help get an idea of what you should do & there's plenty of reading here. Don't forget the wiki. Have you got a razor already? If not the classifieds are a great place to start.

Thanked: 278Daniel Rouah's shaving seminar pictures | MODERN GENT do a course, though it's aimed at shaving other people. No idea of cost or how good it is.

Thanked: 1When I started I watched a ton of videos, which lead to reading a lot of wiki's. That and asking the fine folks here for advice. I'm still learning but I believe I've gained more information then a course would offer.
You could always order Lynn's DVD on straight razor shaving, lots of really good info there.

Thanked: 1903Book a trip to Berlin (Berlin Pub Crawling Oranienburger Strasse - All Night Bars, Dance Clubs, Restaurants and Prosititutes anyone?), and take a course at Herzlich Willkommen! - The Different Scent:. Many members of your race do. Too many for my liking (being a neighbour and all that), but that is a different story entirely.

I seem to recall that truefiit& hill have a shave training service it might also be offered at taylor's and trumpers ... might be worth a trip to london for you... or at least start with their webpages.
