    Default New Shaver

Hello everyone. I've been looking in to straight razor shaving for a while and I'm glad I found this site. I was scrounging around antique stores and found what looked to be a decent razor for a good price tucked away ($18). But just today I did notice a chip in the end of it. Luckily I found Ken's great Wipi's and hopefully he has one left!

So that covers the razor and the strop, but how about the other stuff? Soap, cup, brush, etc. I was thinking about picking up a Col. Conk's set or somehting similar, does anyone have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

    Matt

With the mug I just bought a bowl that I liked at Crate and Barrel, it is high sided, colorful and was $4.

With soap I have been asking samples at various stores but I think I will buy Proraso just to have one constant in the shaving routine so I'm not changing multiple variables in every shave. Proraso is well-reputed on these boards and is cheap ($10) so something to consider.

The brush - Crabtree and Evelyn make a Best Badger at $35 that is being discontinued; if you can find it in your local area it's worth it. Look around this boards or my posts for more info on it and how to find it - it's model 130291. Cheers.

Hi and welcome. Co. Conk is good. And get a badger hair brush. It doesn't have to be a top of the line $$$$$$$ brush, but my badger hair is far superior to the boar hair brush I was using. Making good lather is essential and a lot of fun!
