Thanked: 0Cut throat doing a number on my throat.
Hello!
The shave I'm getting everywhere else on my face is excellent. Cheeks, sideburns, jaw line all good. But both sides of the adams apple are virtually always tough. I can't get as good a shave and there are always weepers at best. Anyone else have this problem and what can I do about it. Help!
Thanks. Alex.

For the longest time I had a LOT of difficulty with the areas just to the sides of the adams apple. I don't have a big neck so the area to the sides of my adams apple are concave, making it a to shave. What I find works now is to pull the skin there outwords on one side until the skin that was in the little hollow is now stretched over a flatter area of my neck. Then I just shave it VERY VERY lightly, and do the same for the other side.
Stretching is key when doing those awkward places, and it's just takes practice to find what stretching and angle works best for you and your face/neck to get the blade into those pesky places.

Use a really low flat angle and see if there's a difference. Make sure your lather is wet and slick. Make sure your razor is being stropped correctly.
And make sure you're not pressing down AT ALL.
EDIT: Where did your razor come from. Was it honed properly?Last edited by Disburden; 04-02-2009 at 02:17 AM.

I used to have the same problem when I started with a straight. I just pull the skin over my adams apple to either side and turn my head a bit the other way. Works for me.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the advice everyone. To answer your question Disburden, My razor is a Willhelm Noel Solingen "Amor''. And I bought it on ebay. I know I didn't receive it shave ready. I also purchased a Norton 4/8 stone. It hasn't been easy but I keep trying to learn for myself what sharp feels like, by honing and stroping and shaving. All the while not wanting to ruin the blade. I think I've got it sharp enough. But I just purchased a pre-sharpened dovo online and I still waiting for it to compare.
Thanks.
