Thread: Waiting

I now have a cleaned razor and a conditioned strop. Tomorrow I get my razor honed by someone local. All this is good except for having to wait. So i am spending my time looking at shaving vids and razor porn. Any advice for the first shave

At this point you probably have a good idea on what to do.

Yeah;

Be alone. Try and get every distraction out of the house or at least behind a closed door. Put on some really relaxing music. Relax. And take lots of time and effort prepping your beard. Beyond that, just enjoy yourself!

I was thinking Tool and now the real countdown happens just a few more hours

So I go to the guy that says he can sharpen straights. Wrong with a capital WTF he was trying to sharpen it like you would a cheap convenient store Chinese 2.00 pocket knife. So promptly toke it back and left. Now that sucked was looking forward to that shave. So now I says to my self for the same price as shipping and having someone else hone your razor you can buy the stones and do it yourself. So I bought the SteeleX 1000/6000 came home and soaked the stone and then started to work. Sharpen test sharpen test.... You get the drift. Got ready for shave not really there yet so more sharpen and this went on for some time but in the end bang there it is it now glides. Though time intensive it really was fun, informative and quite fulfilling. But in hind site it should have been sent out. But then I would not have gotten this experience so there you go, now I am looking forward to tomorrows shave. Wont shave with a DE until i have a really good straight shave.
