that is great! i was another one who hated shaving prior to the straight razor. i have since used a DE and i don't mind them, but the SR is for me. i have the same set up as far as hones and really like them. any pictures of the razor?

Welcome. I have hated shaving for years. Started with a Sensor excel, moved from there to mach 3, and later fusion. On and off for the last 10 years I have grown the beard, sometimes to mountain man proportions because I hated it so. Started using a DE last year; much better, was starting to enjoy shaving, but it just wasn't enough. Switched to straights two weeks ago. Will NEVER look back. Congrats on the heirloom. I could not even get an old DE from any of my relatives, most haven't used one in ages, and I don't think anyone in my family is in possession of a straight. This forum is awesome. I spend more time on here than any other website. Keep reading and keep enjoying.
