New Straight Shaver
Hey everybody, I've been a wet shaver for several years now but only recently developed an interest in straight shaving. I've always heard wonderful things about SRP from B&B and decided that it would be a good idea to join here as well. I've been lurking for a while and there's an astonishing amount of great information on here. Thanks everybody for all the help I've already received just reading old threads. Happy shaving everyone!

Welcome to SRP! I found that a good grounding in DE shaving made for an easier transition. Glad to see that you have been getting good info out of the forum. In case you haven't gone there check out the SRP Wiki here for tutorials on all phases of straight razor shaving and videos here.
Starting out as SRP founder, Lynn Abrams, suggested here eased me into it nicely.Last edited by JimmyHAD; 04-13-2009 at 02:50 AM.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome to SRP,
Do you have a str8 and strop yet? Str8 shaving is a steep learning curve but being a wet shaver will give you an edge.

Welcome, just1nsturm
I never used a DE myself, but many SR shavers will also use a DE semi-regularly.

Thanks for welcoming me to SRP guys. I recently acquired a nice MacFarlane from Seraphim. I have a strop as well but I would really like to purchase a Tony Miller once he starts selling again. I have a couple older straights as well that I hope to learn how to restore with.

I hope to use both fairly regularly as well, as I've acquired a rather substantial collection of safety razors but who knows, I might love straight shaving so much that the DEs just end up collecting dust.
I noticed from your signature that there is a Boker Brotherhood. That's awesome, as I've recently purchased a Boker 1056 and have always been a fan of Boker knives.

welcome to srp
i'm not up to speed on where you get all the logos, but in the razor's section there are various clubs where people show-off different brands.
also the wiki now has a growing database of various razors, so check out these and join the party.
bokers are great
