Thanked: 0New to SRP - Amazing Experience for 1st time buyer
Hello all,
I am new to Straight Razor Place and just wanted to say hello. My best friend got me into shaving with a straight. This site is a great resource for a beginner. I just ordered my own first straight, an original Wapienica from The Invisible Edge, a company based out of the UK. It should be here in a week and the waiting is killing me. These guys are a great vendor. Their prices were cheap and their customer service was great. I accidentally ordered the Wapienica from an old version of their web page I found through a search, and didn't realize they were listed as sold out. I found this out after I had already made the transaction and was curious to how the situation would play out. I was quite happy when I woke up Easter morning when I received an email from Steve at The Invisible Edge telling me that my razor was going to be sent out via airmail on tuesday. He had told me that though they were currently sold out, he was sending me one of the few originals he had set aside as a private stock for rescaling. Such honorable conduct definately made my first straight edge purchase an amazing experience. This also made me happy because I could not find a NOS Wapi anywhere I looked. I had begun shaving with one of my friends straights for a few weeks, and I can't wait to begin shaving with my own straight razor. My friend has been helping me out with getting started, but any other beginner advice would be greatly appreciated. I have read many of your posts and it's great to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Thank You,
Joe Piscitelli

Welcome!
You are indeed in the right place for all the information you need on straight razors. I'm glad you had such a positive experience buying your first straight, there are still a lot of decent people out there! Did you pick up a strop too? You will need one for everyday stropping of your razor. It's good to have a friend to show you the ropes, I don't know anybody in person that shaves with a straight razor, so that's why I'm here! Let us know how the first shave with your new wapi goes, just take it slow and enjoy the ride.

Welcome to SRP. Great to have a friend to show you the ropes. If you haven't already done so check out the SRP Wiki for many tutorials on all things related to straight razor shaving.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome to SRP Joe! As JimmyHad stated, the Wiki is a great place to get started. Hope you get to enjoy straight razors as much as the rest of us here. Beware of the 'Ads' like RAD, HAD, SAD etc. They are very addictive and contagious. Other than getting expensive they are great fun.
