Oggie, I don't think advice on any particular razor name (Boker, Sheffield, etc...) is very useful at this point for you. There are several good buys already pointed out to you in our classfieids. Something like a 5/8 or 6/8 round point is a good razor to start with. Round points are generally a bit more forgiving than a spike point, but many of our members started with spike points so they can be used. Just remember there are no beginner straight razors. They don't sell them with training wheels. It's either a straight razor or it isn't. Kenrup (a member here) sells excellent starter sets too. Wherever you decide to purchase your razor, ensure it comes shave ready.
