You are SO not alone. I know that pain far too well. Fortunately, I did it after my second (and third?) razor had been purchased shave-ready, so I just had to strop and go with a second razor. It was, however, my nicest razor at the time.
Since then, I've been much more careful. And so will you.

Don't sweat it man, we all do it at one point. The good news is, the likelihood of it happened just went down dramatically with you doing it. I think I did some version of that about 3 times. I haven't done it since then, so there's definitely hope!

Thanked: 363try not to go near the sink while shaving. I have a small towel on shoulder or edge of sink to clean lather from razor. Then I only have to miss the faucet once while cleaning when finished shaving
Dsburden, ya I did the same thing on my first razor, also a Wapi.
I honed it out though, it basically bent the edge slightly. A few laps on some lapping film and it was good as new.
cheers

Thanked: 154Yep - welcome to the club, Jeremy. My variation was to bump the faucet with the spine, dropping the razor and bending the edge at the toe when it hit the bottom of the sink. It honed out just fine, though.

That I learned cheaply is definitely true. 60 dollar razor, cost me about 10 bucks to have it shipped to kenrup and back to me thanks to his 90 day hone warranty. Awesome service. I absolutely learned how delicate these blades are and that carelesness will not answer. You really gotta be on your Ps and Qs as the saying goes.

Thanked: 369Rinsing under the faucet is pretty risky. I think most of us have dinged our razor at least once, and it's not a nice feeling. Not to mention the pain in the rear to re-hone.
Even rinsing in a sink full of water, or a bowl, isn't all that much safer.
The safest way is to use a towel, or better yet, one of these:
I wish they were available in a different color though. Black would be nice.Last edited by honedright; 04-19-2009 at 05:33 AM.

Nice shave area, TomSD.
I also rinse in the sink. It gives me one more way to check the moisture content of the lather. The sink is pretty deep and I keep the blade in the deepest part, moving it in a small area.Last edited by GeauxLSU; 04-19-2009 at 02:14 PM.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.
