Default Blemishes on a new blade?

I've been using a straight for about a week now and just noticed a few blemishes on the back side of the blade. One is tiny the other is larger.

You can see them in the attached picture. Anyway, when I run my nail over the larger one it is rougher than the rest of the blade. Also, cleaning or buffing at it doesn't seem to help. Then again I'm only using rubbing alcohol and a lint free pad so I might need something stronger.

I figure it is just a blemish of some kind and needs to be polished out. The problem is, being a newb, I have no idea what I need to do or what tools/supplies I need to have to do it. It isn't really a big deal to me as I'm more about function than pretty but I might as well learn how to deal with these things as they come up, heh.

    Thanks for any help,

    Tom

EDIT: I guess I should've circled them in the pic. They are both toward the end of the blade and though the bigger one appears lighter they are both dark, almost black in color.

Those are water spots. Usually from drops on the blade or inside the scales.

Some metal polish like Maas should clean them right up.

In the future you'll want to really dry the blade and inside the scales. If it continues to be a problem just put a fine layer of mineral oil or the like on the blade after shaving.

Other than that no harm done other than aesthetics.

Oh inside the scales... I was trying to figure out why there would be marks on the blade since I'm really good about cleaning it and wiping it down after I finish. Never thought about it being recontaminated when I closed it, heh.

    Thanks!

Not a problem. The scales are often overlooked when drying until you have this happen. Just fold over some TP and wipe the scales out before you close the razor.
