I get that feeling when my face is dried out. Maybe try an aftershave that is more moisturizing (I've never used musgo; I typically use Nivea Extra Soothing or some homebrew stuff that a wonderful friend gave me).

Thanked: 3795Agreed. I also use the Nivea balm and/or raw aloe. I was given a bottle of Gillette aftershave which is also a lotion but when I used only it, I got skin that was so dried out that wrinkles that I don't normally have formed all over my face and my skin did feel tight. So in my experience, yes, your aftershave could be drying out your skin. Try something else.

Thanked: 278Soap - or even plain water - can have a drying effect if on the skin for long enough. How long do you spend shaving?
Do you use an alum block? I find that causes some tightening too, but in a way I like - tight yet soft.
Tight and stiff sounds bad. Try the Nivea Extra, it's great stuff, especially if you have razor burn.

I used to get that "tight face" feeling post shave, accompanied by itching, until I started to use L'Occitane aftershave balm. Wonderful stuff! Smells good and completely prevents my itching and tight skin. L'Occitane products are pricey but worth it. My tube of aftershave balm costs $29, but it lasts for several months.
