Newbies take heart - shaving nirvana in reach
I just feel like singing. A bbs shave on a razor I honed. Even my upper lip and chin are so smooth. Can't stop stroking my face today.
Two months ago, I wouldnt have thought this possible. I'd have been happy with shaving and honing as a hobby...and resort to the de for that really superlative shave.
Newbies...it happens. You can do this and will. Oldies, thanks a million for this site, your posts, answers......encouragement.

Awesome!
I love this aspect of SRP - everyone encouraging each other and reporting their progress... Good stuff!

Keep it up Jim, I've just returned after a long hiatus and I've found wonderful amounts of support in here.

I appreciate hearing about your good fortune. I am at the front end of the learning curve, and have a long way to go but i am enjoying the journey. I recently decided it was time to lose the full beard I'd sported for the last five years. I always hated shaving, but decided to change my outlook. I bought a Merkur DE razor, a brush and a cake of Williams. I took my time and began to enjoy my morning shaves. I remembered the straight razor shaves I got from my barber back in the early 70's. I understand that they are illegal now, at least in NY. Then it occurred to me... Why not give straight razor shaving a try? I've got a lot to learn, but I'm getting better. I no longer look like Rocky Balboa. I just ordered a TM strop and am very pleased with all the info on this forum. Thank you for the encouragement!

Feels great doesnt it..
I'm now shaving with a straight for 6 months and its still getting better and better..I now can have a great shave every time I want to with a razor I honed myself.. (some are honed by Bart and they are great shavers as well ).. its almost getting a routine and I love it.
The only "problem" I now have is that all my razors are shave ready.. and I actually like honing...

I'll have to find ways to smuggle them into the house.. SWMBO is on maternity leave at the moment...
Well I don't think I need more razors..I'll just work on my project razor.. it a big meat chopper that needs a lot of sanding and could use some scales at the moment.

LOL! I am thinking of your line, " . . stroking my face all day." Man, there just is no feeling quite like that - Well done!
I recall doing exactly that back when I was in college. The morning after (I shaved in the evening after hitting the books to chill out and reflect - it was the perfect calming). All day around my classes I was running my hands all over my face. At one point I was very tempted to ask this hot co-ed that I had my eyes on to feel how smooth my face was, but chickened out.
I have been out of the SR world for 20+ years and am getting all hooked up again from Vintageblades (what an awesome business), on Monday. Can't wait to experience that again.
Awesome news jleeg, keep it up!
