Thanked: 0How long does your shave last?
I have this weird dilemma right now. My straight razor shave lasts 1.5 days. So going halfway through work the second day I'm feeling a little rough already. But a nightly shave seems too much.
Anyone share a similar experience?
Thanks
JD

I usually get about two good day's my self. I like to shave every other day. Every bodies beard is a little different.

I get two days before it is really noticeable to anyone but me. I let it go much longer than that pretty regularly because I'm lazy though. That is changing now that I use a straight though since I look forward to shaving now instead of dreading it.

i get about a day. I think it's more technique than general hairiness.

I've decided to try the blind luck method.
I'm in the same boat as you. I'd really rather go 1-1/2 to 2 days between shaves, but I decided that I'd follow some of the examples from the old-timers and shave right out of the shower, every single day.
I need to wear glasses. I can't see up close, and my astigmatism prevents me from seeing close or far. IOW, I'm completely hosed. But, I figured I can see enough, even in a fogged mirror, to not slice off my head, so I'd give it a try.
And, it's been a great success!
I do one pass down and one pass up, then walk away. It's not BBS, but it's not visible to others (although I can feel the trouble spots), and I get to use my Royall Lyme!
It's also very fast. When I concentrate and try to get everything absolutely perfect, I'll spend 30 minutes or more. It's well worth it. But, to fit this into my daily routine (with no irritation on a daily basis) I needed to try something different. The once-up-once-down-walk-away method gets me out of the bathroom before the wife can't hold it anymore, and is good enough for day-to-day appearance.
As a portrait photographer, I get to see a whole lot of day-old or-more beards. I'd hate to have my once-down-once-up method scrutinized that closely. But it works pretty well for the rest of the office.
What I really need to do is get working with both hands. Maybe I'll try that in the morning. If you don't hear back from me soon, call 911!

Thanked: 235My shave with a straight lasts 1.5 days, or long enough to not need to shave the next morning, but have to shave again by about lunch time.

Thanked: 155I can go two days, but then I shave in the morning so things don't begin to get really rough until the evening of the second day. I actually shave every morning unless there is some timing issue (i.e. I have to get up really early to travel. Also, I must wear a respirator sometimes at work, and thus, must be clean shaven to insure a proper seal.
In your case, you might consider a 36 hour shave cycle. For example shave Monday morning, Tuesday evening, Thursday morning ....

I never go too close when I shave and never, ever go ATG because my skin can't cope with that. But I get close enough... Therefore I sometimes do a simple WTG pass and need to shave the next morning; if I do - as I did today - a 2 pass shave, WTG and XTG, I'll only need to shave tomorrow evening. But I like to shave and, unless I'm feeling lazy or I'm in a rush, I'll shave every morning or every other morning... and that's because I want to. If I stopped shaving all together nobody would notice or give a rat's bum... Since I don't work for anyone but myself, I don't have to deal with codes or obbligations of the sort.

With me learning how to use my SR my shave lasts about a day. I shave about 7:00AM and I really don't feel a decent stubble until lat ni the evening around 10:00PM or so. I am sure that as my technique improves the quality of my smoothness will also increase.
