    Talking Newbie checking in....

First off I would like to thank everyone who has posted on this forum. I have been lurking around for the past three weeks or so and have read as much as I can. The information here is invaluable. I especially want to thank Lynn for his masterful advice and especially for his DVD.

I wore a full beard for 27 years and finally decided to shave it off last June. I then used an electric for nine months and finally got tired of the poor results and all the irritation. After searching around the internet I found the Badger and Blade Forum and through the wonderful people on that site I learned how to DE shave. I now have a case of SSAD and SCAD. Anyway, for the past few weeks I have been intrigued by the idea of using a straight razor and I finally decided to take the plunge. I spoke to Don at SRD two days ago and I just received my Dovo 5/8 Immitation Tortoise razor and an SRD 3" Red Latigo Strop. I hope to have the courage to try the razor out later today and I will let you know how it goes.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for all the incredible advise in this forum. I look forward to communicating with you in the future.

Welcome to SRP ! Good luck on your first shave. If you haven't seen this post by SRP founder Lynn Abrams give it a look before you start. It worked for me easing into it . Kind of dipped my foot in the water before I dived in.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks JimmyHad. I did see that post by Lynn and I definitely plan on taking it to heart. I plan on going very slowly and will finish with my DE until I feel comfortable.
Thanks again. Excited to be here!
