Thanked: 259NEED HELP WITH BUYING NEW DOVO
i was wondering which razor would be best, i am looking at a DOVO ebony prima and a DOVO perlex both have rounded blades and aprox the same price.
the perlex says it has swedish steel and the prima just says solingen.
both are nice looking and just need a little advice on the choice

I have the perlex and like it. It was my very first razor and should be a good starter. It's very "flexable" on the face and I'm glad i started out with it. Never used the other one so can't say anything on it. Good Luck.

Dovo's are good blades. Also, rather than eyeing a Dovo, have you looked through the classifieds? You can get a great straight razor that is truly shave ready (the most important part of the razor) at attractive prices. They are not junk razors, our members have reputations to protect. Kenrup (a member here) sells great starter sets at reasonable prices, as does SRD (in the Vendors Corner forum below). Whever you decide to purchase your razor ensure it is truly shave ready. Some places sell the razors pre-honed, while others charge an additional fee to hone it for you.

If you're new at it, and/or don't have good honing skills, get it from a place that also does honing. Yeah it might be $10 or $20 more than from some other trader, but if you get it shave-ready from a good honer, it's worth it.
