    Default Shave #2

Had my second straight razor shave tonight. Did both sideburns and cheeks and my entire neck, but stayed away from my upper lip and chin. Finished up with the DE and a Feather blade.
Starting to get a better feel for the blade, but I think I may be using to large an angle as I am getting some areas of irritation.
Definitely fun though. Tomorrow is my day off from shaving and Tuesday I won't have enough time to use the straight, so my next attempt will be Wednesday. I will keep you posted.
Thanks to everyone for your help and encouragement.

Yeah try to stay vigilant with the angle you're taking, that could be a possibility for irritation. I also found that pressing too hard can cause irritation. I remember my first few tries with the fool's pass where my upper lip would feel like it was on fire, but then I finally realized I was pressing down with the razor and not even noticing it. Once I fixed that the difference was like night and day.

Good to hear your getting the feel of it. I do agree with ATG,,,you probably using too much pressure on the razor. It's a common mistake when starting out, you feel you have to "press" to cut hair. In reality, you should just "glide" the blade over your face and "poof" whiskers disappear. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm sure you're right and I will definitely ease up on the pressure.

Sounds like a plan. If need be, you can back off the neck area, too, and just concentrate on the area between the sideburn and jaw line. And do just WTG only until you have established your pressures and angles.
