First shave today with my dovo best

So I got my 5/8 dovo best today from srd, cleaned it and gave it a shot. I must say, WOW. It is insanely sharper than the magic shavette i was using. The shave is incomparable, it was just a little awkward for me to use since the blade is a lot bigger. I gave myself a little nick but it's pretty much because i was actually a bit nervous for some reason.

overall i'm incredibly happy with the shave and i already can't wait to use it again.

funny thing was, my brother kept popping in and out of the bathroom asking things like "is it worth it?" and "can you feel a difference?" and really all i could say to him was that he'd have to try one to understand.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy smoother than the shavette. i mean i was impressed by the shavette and i was all excited by the fact that even though it was a cheap one, i was using a straight razor. i've been at it for about two weeks now and my buddies think i'm obsessed, but they definitely just don't understand. i'm already looking around for a vintage razor to just toy around with to learn a thing or two about honing and possibly even restore it.

Welcome and congrats on stepping up. Now you can pass the shavette on to another like you who wants to try it. Although you can now encourage them to go to a real str8 right off.

i have been shaving with the SR for about a year and a half now and i still use my Dovo Best Quality. i have a 4 razor rotation but i still find that i like that Dovo as it is really consistent and easy to use.

Good choice and it sounds like you have made a great start. if you are anything like me, this is the point where your addiction will begin

yeahh i'd say i'm getting that itch already. i went to the mall to do some clothes shopping today, and still walked out with a new brush, a shave cream, and a soap i want to try. my gf thinks i'm nuts but she' shappy i'm finally clean shaven. until i tried the straight i would shave about once every other week because regular safety razors would irritate my face terribly.
