Thanked: 0my first straight razor shave
Hello everyone!
Got my razor today and did my first cut throat shave...
At first the I was really disappointed because the razor got "stuck" in the stubble...but after stropping it became sharp like a, well, like a razor is supposed to be.
Had a few troubles, like the shaving cream drying up, some places like under the chin giving a challenge, and a few nicks (styptic pencil to the rescue).
All in all it was a good an unique experience, especially with the lathering and the fact that I don't have to wash out the green stuff in a can is really worth it alone.
Oh, and the shave itself was just as good as any shave I've had before!

Great start! Remember how it feels, because in a few months you'll look back & think "Did I really think that was a good shave?" It just get's better!

Congratulations!
Good for you! It only gets better. When I started out I found red towels to be quite useful.

congrats on your first shave! I was just there about a week and a half ago so I can imagine how excited you must be. Read as much as you can about technique not only with shaving but with stropping and everything that goes along with SR shaving.

Thanked: 41Endymionis, welcome to the party. You might like your lather a bit on the wetter side for str8 shaving. The shaving part takes folks a little longer and the lather tends to dry up before you get to it so a little more water is good. Sounds like you are on the road. What shaving method did you use before?
Happy Shaving!

Thanked: 0Wow, what great responses. This really seems like a great community!
I did lather up again, but then I think it was a bit too wet, althought better than drying up...I hope there is some sort of middle ground... I used to just use a gilette mach2 (or was it 3) and shaving gel and usually I showered/washed my face afterwards
Can't wait to shave again, although I might have to wait untill tomorrow because my whiskers don't grow that fast...

Thanked: 41Have you heard about this new product called WHISKER FOOD! I hear it is the greatest stuff. Just take one dose daily and your whiskers grow like there is no tomorrow. Great for those of us who like to shave , now that we have discovered the world of str8s. Available soon at a store near you.

Thanked: 172[QUOTE=tampajason;375656]I think, like me, you wish your whiskers grew faster to warrant a shave more often.
Yeh, that was me also shaved daily but, now with str8 36-48 hours
