    Default India's Straight Razors?

I was wondering what India's straight razors are like. My friend has offered to get me 12 straight razors for $1 (I'm guessing he was exaggerating, but heck, I don't know ) Are their str8s like the Japanese? Or are they more the style of the German str8s? What should expect from the quality of these str8s? Is India generally known for good razors or bad razors? Should I not risk getting a bad razor, and instead go get a beginers German str8? (Keep in mind that this would be my first razor. I also don't want to end up hating straight razor shaving just because of a bad razor)

I just wanted to get an idea of what I would be getting to see if it was worth it (well, I guess $1 is not that much to shell out, but he might have trouble explaining to the custom agents why he is carrying 12 knifes )

Your best bet is to buy a razor from the SRP classifieds. It will be quality and it will be shave ready.

I bet they are on par with Pakistani cutlery... which is to say total garbage.

I bet there are a few diamonds in that rough, but I wouldn't spend the money on em.

    Default the scales

the scales might be good. If you end up getting a quality blade from the classifieds or ebay that need sot be restored that would be alright.

I imagine you'd be getting what you pay for
se if your friend can get better details, like if there is a brand name or markings on them. Does your friend use them or did he just notice the low price?

I don't think anybody here knows anything about the razors your buddy can get you, so it's your gambling.
If you want a good inexpensive razor that will shave the classifieds are quite a nice option.
Or one of the reputable vendors.

at this point ebay would be a fairly big gamble for you, i wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah, I'm betting he just noticed the low price on the razors. Thanks for all of the replies. I think I am just going to play it safe and buy a best quality dovo. I've been looking at the razors on SRD, and they seem priced fairly well.

I don't know about razors, but Indian khukuris are only good as wall hangers.

If they can't do a good chopper, I don't think they can do a good shaver.

I bet there may be a lot of old Sheffield stuff there if you knew where to find it.
