    Default Freshly Honed Shaver

Just had a shave with my razor freshly honed by gssixgun (very professional btw, highly recommended). I had much better luck with the sharper blade. Still not BBS; I realize I have much to learn about pressure, blade angle, and stretching the skin...

The big issue I ran into was with a 1/4" diameter mole on the left jawline. The mole is *almost* flush with the skin, and I have never had an issue with cartridge razors. However, the blade sliced cleanly through it and left a nice bloody mess. Obviously I won't be going near it until it heals, but in the future how do people handle moles/facial irregularities?

    Cheers,

    - HJ

I think we had a thread about this recently. I have one, a mole, and I just go over it. Eventually it either gets sliced off, or the scar tissue build up and it is no longer an issue.

Either way I still have my moles and I hardly ever nick them and when I do I just push a styptic into it to stop the blood.

Look at it this way, if it wasn't flush before, it is now.

+1. I have two bumps which I used to nick all the time. Now I can shave right over them without much problem. Really stretching the skins seems to help.

I have a mole on my cheek and I go over it with zero pressure and/or work more closely around it with care and a bit of very light pressure. After awhile you'll get to know the areas of your shave and which blade angles and directions to approach them with for best results. Kind of like learning a route to get from point a to point b. Just comes with time and practice.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone with a similar problem...

After slicing through the mole, left it alone for several days to heal. It was slightly inflamed at first and I thought it would become a big deal, so much so that I talked to my doctor about possibly having her remove it. After it healed up though it's now almost completely flush with the skin and fainter as well... have had no subsequent issues with it and can shave cleanly over the area with no issues.

So problem solved! Thanks for the advice guys!

    Cheers,

    - HJ
