why the need for a rotation?
I'm just curious, other than an excuse to buy more razors, whats the benefit of shaving with a rotation? Is it so that you can put off stropping till the end of the week, and strop 'em all at once?

Thanked: 12622 razors(in case you drop one and need to send it out to be honed), a strop, and a barber hone/pasted strop is all you really need.
Not counting brushes/soaps/etc...

If one gets damaged (or needs honing) you have an immediate back-up. Or two...or three.... etc...
My Grandfather thought 3 or 4 was plenty. He didn't have a highly developed case of RAD.

I am not sure there is a need for a rotation. Many people have only 1 or 2 straights (I guess that is sort of a rotation). Also, most people would strop their razors right before they shave so I would not think that is the reason either. Not sure that buying more razors, as much as having variety in your shaves, is what drives most folks to have a rotation. Many people that own many razors do not use a rotation. Some people find one razor that is sharp and stick with it until is dull and then hone or switch. I have a few razor but not always use them in a rotation. Some days I feel like shaving with the same razor I shaved with the day before.... I guess everybody is different.
Al raz.

Thanked: 52I only have 1 main razor...and then two others that I have bought for possibly giving to my sons if I ever have any...so only use them on occasion...I think most guys just get razors cuz they cant help but not buy them. That said I want to buy another to match the one I have...
then I want them to both be rescaled to look the same...I dont like the scales but love the bladeLast edited by erictski; 05-13-2009 at 08:05 PM.

I can't have a harem with a different women every night but I can have a different razor every night.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 234Variety is indeed, the spice of life!
Razors are (generally) cheap, they come in all different shapes and sizes and they all feel different.
It's just nice, once you've bought the second one, what's another $10?
