Default Some tips for a beginner...

I started straight razor shaving a month ago. I'm right handed, and I have trouble shaving the left side of my neck, around the jugular. Any tips? Which way should the blade point? Or is this something I just need to adapt to... Also, my blade has a small area of wire edge, but only on the top corner. Do I need to hone it or can I strop it back to normal?

I'd really work on using your left hand. I know it'll be awkward, but it'll really help you out in the long run. Practice for awhile with a butter knife and shave it with your safety razor until you feel comfortable enough to use the straight.

too late for me. I am right handed and shave one handed. My left side tends to be shaved closer and with less irritation than the right.

    Whatever works I guess.

Welcome to SRP. Here in the SRP Wiki you will find all of the information you need to shave with and maintain a straight razor. If I were you I would begin with the suggested method of SRP founder Lynn Abrams in this post here. There are various videos here that can help as well. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you have them. Personally I shave with my right hand. It took awhile for me to feel confident and coordinated in handling the razor. As far as the wire edge, sending it to a honemiester may be a good alternative if it wasn't shave ready when you bought it. If ti was then bringing it back to shave ready depends on the present condition and how far gone it is. Stropping might be effective if you have the technique down. Try 50 linen and 50 leather and see how it feels.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That video is RIDICULOUS. I can't believe that. I would be dead on the floor in a pool of my own blood if I tried to pull that off.
