Thread: can i use a belt as a strop?

The short answer Yes.... will it give the perfect shave? perhaps not... is it better than not? oh yes...

I had been using an old leather belt that the hardware broke on for a long while but I did make sure to sand any wrinkles out of it and lap it flat with a diamond hone before use. That being said I've also used newsprint on a flat marble surface and currently swapped to a bit of balsa on my bathroom shelf above my sink the belt is still used for travel.... A tony miller strop will be in my future some day....
