Default My Straight Razor saga continues

So I went to the Art of Shaving where the barber gave me a short lesson on the art of the straight razor shave. He sowed me how to strop and hone and how to shave with my Stainless Steel Dovo Inox and showed me just how blunt my Inox was. We honed it a bit and oh boy that has made a difference. I went into the bathroom here at work (don't tell security that I have my straight here) and took a few swipes, nothing in the way of a shave, as I do not have the creams and brush with me. And let me tell you its like "Oh, baby where have you been all my life." My super speeds could never do this and so darn smooth my super speeds would be jellous. Can't wait to get home tonight so I can do a proper straight shave and see how things go. I probably will not upgrade as yet until I can get some more practice and learn to do the stroping and honing a bit faster since when I wake up in the morning I do not have a lot of time. I will probably be confined to experimenting in the eveenings. I awlays thought that the more retro the shave technique is the better the shave is and let me tell you my Inox has proven that right. I guess I won't go any more retro then a striaght I am told it can be done but it was rather time consuming before the stright. Again Can't wait to get home and do a proper shave with the Inox.

    Hey JB,

Nice to hear. I would void the morning shave for four months. Shave in the evening when you are not pressed for time and can focus on technique. Thankfully, it sounds at least, that you have a sharp blade - which is totally fundamental. Your technique needs to develop as you get to intimately now your beard and how your blade fits your hand and balances against your face, and your stropping. At this point in your SR shaving experience, time is the friend, so give your friend the time it deserves and you will be SO far better off.

    Keep it going!

That is exciting that you had a great learning experience and are shaving with a sharper razor. It makes all the difference in the world.

I shave at night after the shower, I still have a good shave well into the next day.
