Hi all, This is my first post here. After two weeks of lurking, I felt that it was time to introduce myself and share a little bit. Now, I used to not like going to antique shops, but my fiance wanted me to go antiquing with her. She suggested straight razors. And that was the start.

Two weeks ago I didn't know a thing about straight razors. Now, thanks to you folk, I (in theory) know much more and have acquired 8 razors from a couple of antique shops (2 Wade and Butcher's, 1 Germania, 1 Eaton, 1 Wostenholm, 1 Staniforth, 1 Simmons Hdwe., and 1 W.M. Elliot, I'll have to see about getting pictures of these up later). A couple of these aren't in great shape, but I am hoping to learn how to fix these up later on down the road. It's been really neat researching the companies behind the razors. The feeling when the light bulb goes on and you realize that you're holding a razor that's probably 90-100+ years old is incredible. I feel like a kid in a toy store again.

Next up, I just need to get one of the razors sharpened (Utopian, I am hoping that you're not completely flooded with people's razors)

It has been incredible looking through the forums and seeing the wealth of knowledge and the sense of community here. I can't wait to really get started with this.
