    Default New Guy

Just checking in to say hello and to ask a quick question. I have a Zwilling razor which I am happy with, and I was considering a few Dovo or Thiers Issard razors. I like the classic look of those brands but how do they compare in quality to the Zwilling?

Welcome. Can't comment on how they compare to Zwillings but the Thiers Isssard razor that I have is a lovely little shaver. If you like classic looks it may be an idea to check out a vintage razor. You'll generally find some goodies in the classified ads here or at other places on the web.

I have a carbon steel dovo and a Dovo Inox and both are great stuff I know nothing aobut the razor that you said you have so I can not compare the dovos to it, but I think that you would be very happy with a Dovo of any model.

The Dovo and TI are right up there with your Zwillingswerk. That is a Henckles I believe ? Anyhow Welcome to SRP. You might want to check out the SRP Wiki here and especially the straight razor data base here for lots of photos of great razors.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Welcome to the forums.

RAD does set in quite quickly...I've only been at this a couple of weeks and have 6 vintage restoration projects to go with my 2 new Dovos.

    +1 on RAD epidemic lol
I started and shaved for 3 months using a $10 ebay special, a crapped out Fromm strop, a three year old pair of levis (honestly a great strop, once I started using them my shaves got like 8 times better) the morning paper (touch up hone- read somewhere the paper has an ultra fine grit to it) and a VDH set up. All that under $50.
    Now....
    After the tax refund...
DD Goldedge, 2 NOS Solingens (mind you, still cheap, both <$20), a frenchie fix up (<$10) and a Sheffield fix up (~$10). So still cheap but thats 5 new razors... in two weeks...
