Default The dangers of skin stretching.....

I've been shaving for a few weeks now and I noticed something odd happening to me. Whenever I was shaving my throat area I found myself getting light headed. My vision would become blurred. I was going to start a thread here asking if it happens to anyone else.

But then I figured out what was happening.

When stretching my skin in this area I was pushing down on my carotid artery. I was pushing down so hard, and taking so long concentrating on the shave that I giving myself a mini choke hold...

    Be careful

I'm sure no body is dumb enough to knock themselves out while shaving (apart from me ), but I thought I'd mention it anyway!

Oddly enough I don't do any facial yoga while striaght shaving, although I have thought about that on the kneck area.

I also experienced this early on (but only on one side of my neck) when I was first learning to shave with a straight, but I never figured out why that used to happen to me

Maybe that is what I was doing as well

I found that I didn't need to stretch the skin drum tight necessarily. I also tended to overdo it a bit when I was starting out. Now I just snug it up enough to flatten the wrinkles out and tighten it up a bit.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

damn, I think more downward pressure and less inward pressure would be good news!

I would be scared for life if I didn't stretch my skin, I would have probably sliced off my chin.

Reminds me of the story of someone I knew who was learning Russian and while trying to pronounce some phrase he dislocated his jaw. Or at least that was his story.
