    Just ordered my straight razor from SRD. Got the Dovo Best Quality wet shaving set. Cant wait till I get it.

    Welcome.

    You'll love your set for sure. I also got my first (and second) razors from SRD. Lynn will send it to you scary sharp and ready to go.

    Do yourself a favor and don't strop it before your first shave, just in case your technique isn't up to snuff. It'd be a shame to roll the edge right out of the gate.

    I did one better and dinged my first one on the sink within about a week of owning it, and had to send it back to be re-honed.

    Barring freak accidents though, it should be a great experience. Stick with it and it'll pay off.

    ...eventually you'll probably acquire a hone (or two...) and you'll be able to fix your mistakes.

    +1 on not using the strop on the very first shave, but after that you should strop every time. Skipping it the first time will make it clear if your stopping techique is ok or not, as you'll have a reference point.
