Closer Shave
I've been shaving for a couple of days and my chin and cheeks' shave are really close. But i cant get a close shave in the mustache area. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get a closer shave in the mustache area?

Well you have 3 options:
1. Grow a mustache
2. Mustache Razor
3. and seriously here. Have you tried the fools pass? Are you attacking the lip at a relative angle instead of N/S? Your razor was professionally honed right?
The Wiki has the fools pass and the cutting angles for the lip. Try biting the upper lip to stretch the skin more and pulling back with the other hand.
Enjoy

you forgot
0 .) get rid of that nose that gets in the way
ok, let me make it clear that the moustache razor wouldn't make it closer. while the narrow width makes it easier to get in tight areas it is also trickier to maintain the correct angle and have good pressure.
here's one that would be appropriate, but as I said while it would be beneficial eventually, at this stage you need more practice, not more razor.
take a look at chris moss's pdf - you can do sideways strokes. the 'fool's pass' would be my last resort, be careful if you try it.

Forgot about removing the nose.
You could stick your upper lip in a bench vice and pull it really tight.
Really. Check the edge and review the above material. I have a stache and it almost long enough to Dali. SWMBO is not happy.
It is all just practice when you get down to it and in my opinion it is one of the hardest areas to shave except the Adam's apple and well anything south of the belt line but that is another thread.

Thanked: 155Top to bottom with a scything motion, pretty much like everywhere else. You can also follow up with an outside-in stroke on each side, also with a scything motion.

Thanked: 278How are you shaving the top lip at the moment?
Have you read up on the coup de maitre?
If that is proving difficult, sideways strokes can work well, as mentioned. But I find a diagonal movement (sideways with a small amount of downwards motion) is perhaps easiest of all.
If you are doing well on the chin you should be able to master the top lip. It just takes a while for it to click into place.
