    Yeah, there might be a member, maybe even two, who can offer some direction.

    You might want to take a look in the Classifieds section of this forum. There you can get reasonably priced quality stuff. Instead of paying $100 for a new razor, you can get a perfectly good one, that is shave ready, for less than $50. If you discover that straights are not right for you, it happens, then you can just turn it around and sell it again.
