Default Looking For First Razor On Budget

Getting married soon guys, want a better shave. Love the idea of straight razor and the history along with them. having issues trying to find good starter razor while on my wedding budget. My approx budget is between $60 - $120.00 , wouldn't mind buying older blade and getting re-honed or buying new. Any suggestions from the pros would be great.

    Cheers!

    welcome to SRP,

I think very very few of us are pros, most are just hobbyists
In addition to the razor you would need a strop and preferably brush & soap/cream as the stuff in the cans isn't very good and good beard preparation is rather important.

for $120 budget you could get a double arrow set that ruprazor sells, or since you are good with a vintage razor there should be plenty of great options there. Probably the best place is the Classifieds. The thing that matters most is the edge, so it's got to be well honed and you'll be good.
Sometimes guys sell kits with razor and strop and sometimes more goodies in them.

+1 with the above. You should also look through the classifieds for a razor and/or strop. Lots of great razors at attractive prices. They aren't junk razors. Our members have reputations to protect.

By the way, welcome to SRP. And congratulations on the wedding!

In addition to the razor and strop you will also need shaving cream/soap (personal preference) and a brush (from $10 to obscene prices). Please feel free to browse throuh the site, and read through the Wiki. You didn't mention when the great day is. Is it within a week? Or a month or more? If it's within a week I'd recommend starting after returning from your honeymoon so you won't have the additional pressure of the wedding on top of the straight razor learning curve...

Just buy one in the classifieds here for about 50 dollars. You'll be set as long as it says shave ready in the Ad.
