Currently being honed by neil miller I'm also getting a strop from him .
I've been using a fatboy a gillette super adjustable and a pomoco slant

Hello Colin, from another Englishman!
You should have a small advantage if you got prep & lather cracked already. The wapi is a decent enough blade that lot's of the guy's have. I never tried one myself, but it should be a great tool to start with.

Welcome to SRP, Colin!
You will find this environment to be extremely supportive of anyone with an interest in straight shaving. There are guys here that have yet to try a straight but have an interest (straight curious?) as well as guys who have been at it for 30-40 yrs. Someone will have an answer to just about any question, so, ask away.

Thanked: 20wapi
Good choice, the Wapi may be an inexpensive razor, but it is as good as any other. It is made from Swedish steel only made in Poland. I have two, one honed by Ken Rupkalvis in San Antonio, Texas and it shaves great. You may have a problem with balance with the Wapi if it still have the metal scales. The scales are heavier than the blade and it has a tendency to lean toward the scales. Easy fix, replace the scales, not the blade. Good luck. Juan.

Welcome to SRP and please say hello to Neil for me. The slant, like your Pomco, used to be my favorite shaver before I went to straights. Be advised that it may take some time and practice before you get as close a shave but once learned the straight is superior IME. Check out the SRP Wiki here for tutorials on all things straight razor related.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

From one newbie to another welcome. I haven't had a question not to be answered here. These guys are great. I hope to be able to help others with str8's like these fellas when I grow up.
