Thanked: 20swiss army knife
My friend told me, he uses only the first quarter of the blade's edge to shave most of the time. I thought what a waste of a straight razor. When I shave, I use the entire edge, front, middle and heel. I look at the straight razor as a Swiss army knife, a multi purpose tool. The only time I realy use the first quarter of the blade's edge is when I use it to divide my unibrow. I use the scales to stir the sugar in my coffee while shaving; I use the tang to scratch my ears while shaving; I use the jimp to file down a broken fingernail while shaving; I use the point to rest my left index finger while shaving; I use the blade as a magnifying mirror to check my progress while shaving. The only part I have not been able to use yet, is the spine. If you have a suggestion let me know. Juan.

I suppose you could butter a piece of toast with the spine, so you can eat whilst you shave.
