Great exercise for the non-dominant hand
Here's a toughie but a goodie-- practice lathering up with the non-dominant hand. I'm right handed and lather up on my face, and have started lathering my left side of the face with my left hand-- really tough to get smooth circular motions down. It has helped my confidence shaving with my left.

That's a great idea, Chief. One of the biggest problems I had when I started shaving wih my off hand was coordinating the mirror image. I'd often increase the blade angle when I wanted to decrease it. Lathering with the offhand should be just the ticket to learn that coordination without the risk of a cut.

I will try that.
I have the scar from the first time I tried to shave with the left.

You can also brush your teeth and hair with your off hand. Try switching your cutlery around as well.

Thanked: 190Left hand training and benefits
Started with right, got confidence, then started using the left for certain sections and built up on it. Oddly, the left can do certain sections better than the right and vice versa.
Start using the left for as many elements of shaving as possible and this will train the muscles for shaving and deliver better results than just using one hand. It is also to your benefit as you never know if you will not be able to use your dominant hand to shave.

I'm ambidextrous (or more truthfully, equally clumsy with either hand
). But in January I slipped on ice and cracked an elbow bone on left arm, so had limited movement range and strength for a few weeks.
It didn't help me to straight shave with only my right hand. I had to go back to my DEs until the left arm healed. Why? Because I can't straight shave properly without using the other hand to stretch the skin. Maybe some can, but not me. If I stretch, everything works just fine; if not, real trouble. So you need two hands to straight shave, even if you always hold the razor in only one hand.
