    Lighter touch and time!! Do you have an alum block or some kind of post shave lotion, witch hazel or something along those lines might help!

    Been there, done that. ->

    The first few shaves are the worst, it gets better fast.

    i don't have alum block, i have a decent after shave lotion, it has propolis, which soothes the skin.
    i have had good shaves. and even this last one wasn't bad
    after all it was only my 4th shave so i shouldn't expect much
    i think the main problem is my stropping technique, this time round i felt the blade dragging a little especially on ATG

    I find that Vitamin E oil calms the burn instantly & helps healing. It might be worth picking some up. It makes a good moisturiser too. Correct the stropping & lighten up the pressure & things will improve, provided the razor is shave ready.

    aye the razor was shave ready, got it from dovorazors.com, steve dempster, i think he's on here as well. i know vitamin e is good for skin, so i might have to check it out, possibly if i can open up my little bottle of aftershave lotion i'll add the oil right into it.
    thanks for the help
    i'm still just learning it all so i've no worries

    It'll have arrived shave ready from Steve, & i'm sure it can't need more than a good strop after such a short time.
    I've added the oil to aftershave lotion, but if it's a bad case, just put it on as is, but sparingly. The relief is instant.

    i also have this ...

    already has vitamin e in it. it is actually a rather decent balm. last time i used it, i did notice the bleeding stopped faster than with my other lotion. although it does give a bit of a kick, i think it's got a good deal of alcohol.

    i also have an old spice aftershave cologne, but i found that after a straight shave it is a bit much. and it wouldn't do anything for soothing the skin, rather the opposite, so i'll be putting that away till i'm better with my blade and get better results
