Hello
I'm a newbie to straight shaving. I'm a frequent poster at The Shave Den and a constant lurker here. I've been wet shaving for about 4 months now and have 4 shaves with a straight under my belt as well. I'm having a lot of difficulties with shaving my chin and stropping but I'm sure that will come with time. I just wanted to step in and say hello.

Welcome this is the place for anyone who wants to shave with a str8.
Remember to use the wiki there is so much there that will help you. As I have found the chin is one of the most difficult places to shave and I was told it will also tell how sharp your razor actually is. Stroping is yet another part of the art. There is a section in the wiki on stroping. Just stay with it and ask questions there arer those here who always help.
Good Luck.

I do have a question about stropping or learning to strop. I have read that slow stropping does nothing and that you need speed to make it affective. I am finding it hard to learn the action correctly unless I do it slowly will this create any problems if I do it that way?

Welcome Gelflover!
What part of stropping is causing you most trouble? The only reason I ask is because I had trouble rolling the blade over on it's spine at the end of a stroke and finally got to grips with the problem by putting a newspaper on my lap and rolling a razor from one side to the other, over and over, till I could do it without twisting my wrist. I wasn't stropping up and down when I did this, just doing the roll and it helped me no end when I next stropped my razor.
