Long time lingerer, first time poster
Hi everyone,
I've been lurking about the forums for a few months now, but this is the firs time I've actually posted. I've been wet shaving since last September when I discovered the B&B forum, and have been enjoying it from the get go. I started it off with a DE (Merkur HD), but I soon found myself wanting to get a straight. I came across this forum and soon got a Dovo Ivory Micarta. I now have four straights and a couple of hones. Boy do those acquisition disorders sneak up on you!
Enjoying the forums,
Gabe

Welcome, Gabe!
The Dovo you have caught my attention the first time I saw it, I've managed to restrain myself from buying too many razors just yet, but I suspect I may get the Ivory Micata at some point in the near future.
What other razors do you have? What hones? I haven't been here long, but one thing I have seen is that there is no such thing as too much detail when it comes to listing your shaving equipment.

Welcome to SRP. Good to see that a guy who does his homework can progress with the help of the forum resources by itself. Proves that it works.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome to SRP and the world of RAD. Good research makes the learning curve much easier to handle.

I think that what attracted me to straight razor shaving was the search for a better shave and the challenge of it. The funny thing is that I used to nick myself all of the time with the HD, but since I've been shaving with a straight I don't. I started shaving with a straight since January and I've nicked myself about three times.
My razors are the Ivory Micarta I mentioned, an H.M. Christensen (not sure I spelled that correctly) and an Imperial Fully Warranted, and a weird looking "Boker" I picked up on ebay. I use the Boker and the Imperial to practice my honing. They're all hollow ground and 3 out of the 4 are square or spike point.
As far as hones go, I bought the Norton line from Amazon which includes the lapping stone, the 220/1k, and the 4k/8k. I also have a Keen Kutter barber hone No. K15. I've been considering picking up a coticule, or the Naniwa 12k as a finisher, but I haven't done enough research yet.
This forum is great, there such a wealth of information here. Thank you guys for making a guy feel welcomed
