Thanked: 488I sent out a package to Jose yesterday that contained a couple of razors and all else needed to get started. Weight was a little over 3 pounds.
Our postmaster said you better put some value on it as well as marking it a gift or it will make the customs people suspicious so I valued it as a gift value $10 US and included a greeting card that said "Enjoy these shaving items from your friends at the Straight Razor Place" The postmaster said that should get it through Brasil customs without a problem. We shall see when we get a report from Jose in a few days. Then we should know how to do it in the future.
This may be the way we can get shave items to you guys in the future. Have us buy them for you after you pay one of us through paypal. Then mail the items like I did. I certainly don't mind buying for you guys then being reimbursed and mailing "gifts" to you.
Like I said we'll know in a few days.
Also thanks to Billy, Trev and Kelly for helping me with this setup to get Jose started:-)Last edited by Gunner777; 07-31-2009 at 04:47 PM.

Good Show Men!!!!!
WOW!! That was really awsome gentlemen! I like to see that kind of support from forums. Makes one unafraid to ask for help or suggestions. I have seen other forums, not on this subject, where help was asked for and they got, not only kicked for it, but completely blown out of the water. But this, this was great! You guys not only told him where to go to find some good stuff, but went through your own and found him some good stuff.
All of that makes me very glad to be a part of this community.
I, myself, am using a "Magic" brand straightee that I bought from a local beauty supply store, until I can afford a nice, traditional, straight razor. Only done it 3 times so far, but, even with the nicks and cuts, it is still the best shave I have ever had.

Thanked: 488rcardon Welcome to SRP. I know what you mean I've been on forums that really were a quest for one upmanship rather than camaraderie like we have here.
This is the best forum on the internet as far as I'm concerned. As far as getting a good straight to start check the classifieds here on SRP. You'll find a lot of razors for around $30 that are shave ready and good quality razors.
Nobody will sell you a bad razor here unlike ebay.
Good luck and enjoy!!!

Thanked: 8I'll post an update to this thread as soon as I get the package. I'll tell how it all went and post some pictures of this great gift that the folks here at SRP gave me.
A very big THANK YOU to all who have contributed in assembling this kit!

Thanked: 326From one n00b to another Welcome aboard Jose. I'm new to straight shaving too. I just bookmarked 60 some threads now in regards to honing, stropping etc...
There's so much info I've been reading up on weeks now. I'm committed and hopefully you will be to Jose
To Gunner, Billy, Kelly
Of all the forums I'm on, I can say without doubt that only 3 forums ( including this one ) have camaraderie that's second to none.
Godspeed friends

Thanked: 8I guess it will take another 3-4 weeks to be delivered. IŽve been to the customs today and they said the package is probably already there but without a tracking number they canŽt speed up the delivery, IŽll have to wait the normal processing of the goods.
From my experience, this "normal processing" it takes about 30 days to happen.
IŽll keep you all up to date with the delivery/arrival of the kit.
José.
