Hi Bud .. once again I've just been ass shafted by UK customs on a second hand vintage razor ... they are now sending it but I had to pay an extra £16.10 on top of the $70 i paid for the razor ..
Sometimes things come in no problem without charge .. but it seems more and more our modern Day Highway men are stopping things ..
I think it's illegal also in the US not to declare the value of the parcel when shipping , hence why many folk do not like sending items marked as gift ..
Sadly I now accept we live in a country where the powers at be will bleed ever penny they can out of honest folk
Cheers .. G

The only thing I can think of, and I may be wrong, is that they wish to bring the value of the item up to what it would be in the EU as to provide "fair" trade for all the nations involved. If people in the EU could buy things cheaper outside the EU then the economy would go to ****. That's the only reasoning I can think of, apart from moar moneyz for teh pot.
I'd buy from the U.K if possible but some items just aren't available.

As far as I can tell it's more of a lottery than a policy. I've had things sent from the States here in Europe and never paid a penny extra. Of course, there's always next time.
