Hello, I am Compa
]Hi, my name is Ivan Corea but for my friends (and Guild Members in WoW... and pretty much everyone online) I am Compa. I'm 28 and I live in a little country called Honduras.
I recently started to think (out of the blue) about shavingwith a straight razor and well, being a bit obsessive I started to do some research right away (I don't think my boss would be happy with it haha)
At first I was going to buy a razor from amazon. I thought all razors were the same but since most of the razors in amazon only have 1-4 reviews (if they have) I wanted to search for more accurate reviews.. and I ended up in "The Shave Den" Immediately I started to ask some wuestions about razors and the tools of the trade and I got very nice advises... but 2 advises were over the top:
1. Don't buy a Straight Razor from a retailer
2. Go to SRP for even more advises and a trusty Shave-Ready Razor!
So, I'm here to read, learn, make firends and hopefully give advises one day

Welcome and be sure to visit the wiki for razors to avoid. Always look in the classifieds for good razors.

I'm directly looking into the classified for razors I read the wiki and in the future I will keep it at hand. Right now i can't afford yet the full equipment to hone (the right way) a brand new razor.
I'm looking through for the one that will be my first (and hopefully not the last) straight razor

Thanked: 3795Let's amend advice number 1: Never buy a straight razor from an unknown retailer. If you read about a retailer in this forum and it is recommended, then it is likely that you will be fine with it. Off the top of my head, some of the retailers you can trust are
Straight Razor Designs
Classic Shaving
Vintage Blades
No doubt others will add to the list.

Wow! They give good advice at TSD!
Welcome over.
Have a look in the Classifieds. You need to make sure that anything you buy is shave ready. It should say either way, but if not, ask the seller. If you get one that is shave ready, all you need is a decent strop & you're ready, assuming you have a brush & soap or cream. If not, & you want to keep the costs down, just get a cheap one. You needn't spend much if you do it that way.
EDIT. I type slow, but i see you found the classifieds!

Bienvenido, Compa
You've certainly come to the right place for straight razor advice. All of the different pieces of advice you get here will be helpful ... even when they are contradictory.

Welcome to SRP Compa. If you follow through with it you'll find that shaving with a straight razor is the only way to fly.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
