Well, I guess I can relate to that. The only other stone I feel an urge to have is a combo blue/yellow Belgian, simply because they are reputed to cut faster than others of similar grit.
Doing pretty well, except a sprained left wrist has forced me to use my gold Slant, my Sledgehammer Slant, and my gold Futur the last few days. Lots of nice shaves still left in those tools, even if they aren't str8s!

lol everytime I see this thread (I have memory loss problems due to brain overload these days) I think wow I should reply to that. Then realise I did and it was a serious reply. And its a serious thread. But now that I've thought for the 60th time that I should say something, here is my actual answer.
Just got a new SWATY...soooo now what?

LAWLZ... And I've lapped three of them. Thats 6 sheets of 60 grit sandblaster, 11 sheets of 120 grit sandblaster, 3 sheets of 325 grit sandblaster, one multipack (400 600 800 1k) of wet dry 3m autofinish paper, and the first one literally turned a 1200 grit sheet of 3m wet dry autofinish paper to glass. No, not swarfed up. No, not tore the grit off. YES. It smoothed it out. At which point I stopped lapping at 1k. I would never use an expensive DMT on one of these unless I had to. Or really hated my DMT.
I do in fact know that it came lapped. Just after lapping three of them its like a conditioned hate response. Swaty=lapping.Last edited by khaos; 07-29-2009 at 03:07 AM.

Thanked: 132I have a Pike Swaty and it makes a great touchup hone, with the lather as mentioned by other members.
I also have a three line Franz Swaty and it is a bit harder than the Pike Swaty...meaning ya shouldnt have as much trouble lapping the Pike.
Ive used wet/dry sandpaper on the Pike and it works well. Also, use a 400/1000 diamond plate for lapping and it of course works better.
Anyways, you'll enjoy the Pike Swaty for sure.
Happy honing,
Mac

Yeah I knew it came lapped. Just you have to admit, if you weren't the one who sent it, and you saw that title...
