Permission to come aboard, another newbie.
Hi,
I'm Mike from Albuquerque,NM.
I have been wet shaving with a DE for most of my life. I did have a couple excursions into the cartridge shave dark side, but not too many.
I have been intrigued by straights for a long time now and the time has come to start the learning process.
I have 2 straights on the way. An old "Perfection" 5/8's hollow ground and a fairly new, but lightly used Dovo stainless 5/8's.
I would appreciate any guidance you good folk can give on the care and use of the str8t.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, Welcome to SRP. You'll find that a background in DE shaving will shorten the learning curve for becoming adept at straight razor shaving. Here is the SRP Wiki with tutorials on all things related to shaving and maintaining straight razors. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. We are a friendly and helpful community.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 2209Hey Mike, welcome to the SRP!
My suggestion is to make sure that the str8razors you are receiving are both honed and shave tested by someone from the SRP. There is nothing worse than trying to learn on a dull blade.

Thanked: 156Hey Mike,
Welcome to SRP. Again, the wiki is a great source of info and much more organized than the forums. But feel free to ask us any questions. If you need your razors honed, feel free to take me up on my standing free honing offer.

I'd make sure the razors you have on the way are made shave ready before you touch them to your face!
Welcome to SRP, Mike.
