Virginity Lost!
My razor arrived today and Well, I just came from the 'alter'. I wish I could say I didn't draw any blood however... How do I put this... thank goodness for the old alum block and styptic pencil. actually it wasn't that bad. EVERYTHING all the senior guys said is true. Lessons learned from the very first attempt?
1. Is your blade ready?
2. Pay freegin attention!
3. Angle and pressure is crucial.
4. ONLY shave from the side burn down to the jaw line then 'PUT THE RAZOR DOWN AND WALK AWAY'
5. Contemplate first attempt...
6. DON'T EXPECT THE WORLD
7. Psych yourself up for the next attempt.
8. Practice will make perfect
8. DO NOT LOOSE HEART
There you go.

Thanks... but my wife did notice the nick. She made some quip about '...haven't you spent enough money?...' I opened her cupboard in the bathroom and pointed to all her products. Conversation ended!

Congratulations! It must feel great! I have about only five to six straight shaves under my belt, and I learned something not on your list.
Always watch your blade when it is open and in your hand. If you rinse the lather off your blade watch it, I lost a freshly honed edge to a faucet on my second shave. Happy shaving!

Yeah, I've heard that. believe me... I usually save the repect I gave that razor for people I really like!! They should name a razor brand "RESPECT". Good advice.

YES I also have learned to RESPECT THE EDGE! It can also slice your earlobe really nicely and you won't even feel it!
