Thanked: 3aaah! the anticipation is killing me!
I hope it lasts!
i have all the basics assembled in my kit, and I'm just waiting until I have enough time to dedicate to that first stroke (probably sunday morning)
i keep playing it over in my head what I'm going to do (shower, strop, lather, etc) and it just makes the anticipation greater!

It's great to be so excited! Keep a cool head, and don't rush anything...
The really cool thing is...I've been a dedicated straight shaver for about 9 months, now, and I STILL have that anticipation before most shaves!

+1 Guess the anticipation will never end, I hope. Something to think about is morning your shave time to the evening just before or after dinner. I find I have more time to focus and enjoy my shave. The bathroom is in less demand at that time also.
Good luck and enjoy the anticipation!!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Thanked: 190Cool, try not to get over confident with the first few successes. That is how most of us cut ourselves. Good news for me, they healed in 48 hours.
The feeling of getting a great BBS shave never gets old! Welcome to straight shaving!

Thanked: 0I'm just about to hop on the straight razor bandwagon, but must say I'm fascinated by the lure and excitement that we obviously all share towards what is generally dismissed as a pain-in-the-butt necessity of life.

Thanked: 3some days, I consider eating a hassle. so i cook semi-gourmet meals. the excitement and anticipation that comes with cooking really whets my appetite.
i think it like "if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right" and shaving is all about removing hair. the best way to remove hair is with a freshly stropped blade, since it's the most effective device. ergo, straight razor shaving is the right way to shave

+1! I love the anticipation of it! I spend my shower thinking about how I`m going to strop, lather, shave... I also spend a lot of time thinking about restoration projects I can take on and which hones to buy!
Welcome to what rapidly becomes an all consuming topic/ hobby!

Im glad
Im glad to read all this threat, I thought I was the only one. This mornig I wake up but still in bed I start to reproduce in my head the sequence from bath to aftershave, slow and precise movements, like a dance, mooving towards the untouchable perfection ! What bothers me is that I will only shave again tomorrow !

I am there with you too! I have the anticipation also! I used to hate waking up early. Now I can get up a lot easier because I wake and know there is a straight razor in my room and I am going to shave with it!
