    Default Hello Shavers My Introduction

    Good day gentlemen.

24 year old law student in Georgia.
I just have recently gotten into wetshaving. I used to use a Gillette Sensor Excel that irritated the hell out of my face. I would only shave once a week due to the serious burn I would get. My whole face felt like it was severely sunburned. I have to look more professional now and shave every other day. I have a very very thick beard that grows fairly slow.

I have all the tools, but a straight razor.
    Vulvix brush
    trumpers violet SC
    proraso
    C&E sienna SC
    C&E nomad after shave
    gingers garden SS
    Olive Oil as pre shave
I also have a 47 gillette super speed but I bought it off EBAY and its damaged. The razor doesnt sit in their properly, but I still get a good shave out of it.

I am too scared to buy a straight razor off ebay I will look at the classifieds here. I am going to keep doing research on this forum about straight razors.
I am very apprehensive about buying one for fear Ill get ripped off like I did on my super speed.

Thank you members for allowing me join. I look forward to adding information about my journey on this board!!

The reason I am making such a big deal about buying another razor and getting ripped off is because I have 50,000 in school loans and living on a tight budget. Every dollar I spend needs to be worthwhile.

    welcome to srp
even if you continue getting better with the DE the preparation part is just as important as anything else.

btw i just shaved yesterday with a schick quatro instead of a straight and used glycerine hand soap and my hands just before that.
i hadn't used anything but straight razor for the last two years.
it wasn't too bad at all

Welcome. Stick with it and you'll love the shaves you get using a straight razor. Glad to see you here.

Welcome to SRP jimmy! You'll find some of the best guy's and gal's here to help you with any problem you might come up against or any question you will ever have about straight razor shaving. I'm also looking forward to seeing your post's here in the forums! It's good to have you here. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask, we've all been down the "newbie" road, and most of us will never steer you wrong. I'm pretty much a newbie myself, been straight shaving since January 1st, so I am not the most knowledgeable one here, but I will gladly try to answer any questions you might have or get you to someone who can. Welcome, hope to see you here again and God Bless!

    Smile Welcome, jimmyfingers

Don't worry about buying from the classifieds. 99% of the razors that claim to be shave ready ARE. People have reputations to maintain here. Do a little research on the sellers and nab the first one that looks good to you. They tend to go fast!

Welcome! Big debt that one! I know all about educational debt. Originally started my degree in 1996, racked up $25000 in debt over 4 or five years of study WITHOUT even receiving the qualification. Got so sick of paying off the debt and have nothing left to show for it that I quit my OK production management job last year to go back to school. Two subjects left until qualified and it feels good to be nearing completion of the qualification. I imagine you would just about be done also? All the best in life and shaving.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I will be taking the Bar in January after this semester. So im very close to being done. Its hard being in school, peanut butter and jelly is pretty much what I eat. It will be nice to have a job and start living like a gentleman and buy some new clothes.

The classifies on this site seem pretty solid and Ive been checking them out. It likes like their is nothing less than 50 dollars though.
