You are doing great. I started with a Diane 21 so called hair shaper and it came with disposable blades. That is what I learned to straight shave with and although it was unforgiving, it gave me great BBS shaves. Although I use other straight razors today, I do use this as a travel razor and I still will work into the rotation every other round as I enjoy having the ability to straight shave with a variety of straight razors as I am always comparing.

The first few shaves were the roughest for me, but SRP was exceptional in helping me apply the proven techniques and moving up the learning curve. The other key tools that got me up to speed in the beginning were my Best pure badger brush and Col. Conk Soap. It was nice to have the straight shaving ability under my belt before I bought my first Dovo straight and strop.
