Diamond questions
Some days ago Ive been asking about chromium but I couldnt find here in Brazil, here I live, a Chromium better than 400 mesh , that means 37 micron or 380 grit.
But I did found a 1.0 micron diamond powder which I think will be nice after my 8000 stone.
It is selled in 0,2 gram "powder".
Questions:
1 – Can I use it on a linnen strop ?
2 – How many diamond grams I will need to a strop.
3 – Should I mix it with vaselin or what ?

I think its better to buy in suspension, you can find in Brazil (1 micron, 0.5, etc.) There is more than one brand. Try to buy single size diamonds. If you need help to locate PM me.
Best,
Felipe

Thanked: 488We shall see how long it takes the package to get to Jose. It went out the end of last week and he'll let us know when he gets it and if there were any problems with customs.

I have that Handamerican diamond spray, they were having a huge sale recently, not sure if the sale still on (Genuine Honing Leather from HandAmerican). I bought mine (0.5uM) from SRD. I believe that the diamond is suspended in alcohol (like vodka). You spray it on your linen/canvas strop, work it a little with your finger (cover your finger with something, it is abrasive and itches for awhile if you do not cover it) and let it dry. A little goes a long way. At this point, it is ready to be used. Needless to say, it works great.

Thanked: 488What Lynn advises is to spray it on and let it dry overnight. That's on the heavy wool strop anyway.
