    Welcome to SRP.

You will be very happy with your choice from Straight Razor Designs, they are great people to work with, and will never lead you in the wrong direction. Don't be afraid to call them and ask questions. Don't worry about making your posts to long either. Your input is more than welcome.

Welcome, I too am a junior member. What I think I have learned is that a spike point might not be the best one to start with. A rounded blade may be better for the beginner, safer less likely to nick. Be sure to listen to the old guys here, they have a lot of good suggestions. Practice makes bbs.

Welcome to SRP It sounds like you've done your homework. I see you're thinking about a spike point Dovo. From what I understand spike points can be a bit tricky for a beginner. Have you thought about a round point instead for a first razor?

Thank you Dward for the advice, and I have already read all the stickies in the newbie section. Being an exercise in patients is one of the things that attracted me to straight razor shaving; I am in no rush.

I also appreciate your concern keenedge and manonengine but a spike point will satisfy the perfectionist inside of me when shaving around facial hair (what little I have), so I purposely selected a spike point blade. I'll just have to be more patient and attentive when I learn.

To be perfectly honest I'm an accident prone person and I'm shopping for a straight razor. That being said; I have to accept that fact that there's a good chance I'll eventually van Gogh myself regardless of the point style on my razor.

Welcome to SRP! I am a fellow newbe and have gotten a lot of respones to my questions by the very helpful members. They all are very interested in seeing everyone succeed. I have found a lot the the questions that I would be interested in asking have already been asked by others with great and informative answers already given. You should be able to find very good deals on "the tools" you'll need in the classifieds here. Keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome Baron. Your choice of razor shows great taste However, you may want to consider not getting a spike point. Until you get pretty good with a straight, that spike point could potentially cause you some problems (the spike isn't afraid to launch a sneak attack ) I know that you purposefully selected it, but you can handle your "edging" effectively with all types of str8s. I started with one (ignoring all of the advice) and I really sliced myself up in a couple of places. Best of luck.

You'll really enjoy both the str8 scene and SRP! Welcome again!
